IRON CORE: Adapted Strength and Conditioning

  • IRON CORE was developed by Renee Loftspring PT, Ed.D., Dan Scheid, DPT, NETA-CEP and Tommy McQuaid, DPT in 2018.

  • IRON CORE’s focus is to improve each individual athlete’s strength & conditioning to further develop their sport performance as well as have fun and appreciate exercise outside sport practice.

  • This grant-driven program allows us to offer IRON CORE at no charge to its participants who receive eight, 1-hour sessions with two assigned coaches;
  • Coaching staff take each participant through pre- and post-testing to measure outcomes, individual progress AND provide post-IRON CORE development ideas. This may include any or all of the following: endurance, strength, power, force, balance, core strength and speed.
  • IRON CORE is offered once a year, JANUARY – MARCH with the trained coaching staff coming from UC and MSJ’s undergrad and graduate students in Health Sciences, and Physical and Occupational students.
  • A meticulous selection process is followed when choosing our coaching staff in order to allow IRON CORE to choose students who best fit our mission, show required knowledge, and believe in our program model.
  • Sport Performance Coach, Aaron Slusher is our consultant for IRON CORE https://www.facebook.com/AchievePeakPerformance
